A few weeks ago when I was down in Cornwall, we decided to take a little trip a bit further down South from where we live to St Ives. We stayed in a lovely hotel cottage with an amazing sea view for two nights. Even though its only forty minutes down the road from us, to me it was such a nice break/change of scenery. Due to the severity of my illness I probably won’t be able to go on a proper holiday again this year but little local weekends away will do just fine. Especially when the beach is involved.
I managed to go out for a meal in the evening for the first time since I’ve been poorly!! It felt like such a novelty to be out past 3pm munching on yummy scallops (my favourite!). It was a baby step as we only went to the hotel restaurant, early at around 6 – before anyone else arrived, and we were home within an hour, but I did it. And I am hoping it’ll give me the confidence to try something similar again! I was incredibly poorly the following day and had to spend most of it in bed despite being away but I don’t regret doing it. I knew I would have to spend a great deal of our weekend in our hotel room anyway.
The beaches down in St Ives are breathtakingly beautiful, particularly St Michael’s Mount. I would highly recommend anyone to go and visit, especially if you love cobbled streets, and nautical art! The only thing I would say is that its not overly disabled friendly – the shop doorways are very narrow and often have steps up to them.
Let me know if you do go as I can recommend a fabulous café that you can get gluten and dairy-free scones from! We got some to take away and they were delicious
Great photos. Where abouts did you stay in Cornwall? Love St Ives and would love to know the name of the gluten free cafe! Ella x
Thank you so much. We stayed in St Ives.
The cafe was called The Tea Room – http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186243-d2266442-Reviews-The_Tea_Room-St_Ives_Cornwall_England.html.

Hope you’re doing ok lovely girl xxx
Hello! I have ME/CFS and followed your blog recently. I just wanted to say I’m really enjoying seeing your photos of Cornwall very much

Hi, thank you for following and for the lovely feedback

By the way, do you have new background?
But it’s just a question, what I want to say is that I’m so proud of you. Even don’t want to write that it’s a shame you’ve been poorly a lot, though you know, I’m sincerely wish you feel better and wish you it each and every day. But today I just want to focus on your trials, your new experiences – no one, even ME, can’t take away them from you. You already have your weekends, your cinema, your meal out in (hotel) restaurant…you are my wonderful brave fighter, bright star with a beautiful smile. And just know: even if I or anyone can see tiredness in your eyes and smile, we (at least me) focus on their beauty, kindness and passion.
Yes I do Polina, so sweet of you to notice.
I always look forward to reading your comments!
Thank you for your lovely comment once again. You are such a kind and wonderful person
Hope you’re ok! xxx
It looks as though you had a great time! I’m glad you were able to go for this trip and challenge yourself to dine out
Despite feeling very poorly I did have a lovely time thank you Berta
Oh this is down by my neck of the woods (well my Grandparents really!) We used to go to St Michael’s mount every year form my birthday!
Your right it is absolutely beautiful. My extended family are from the Penzance/Land’s end area. I’m really glad that you were able to get out and about for a bit. It’s a step in the right direction!
It’s such a sham that these places are so inaccessible, I suppose it would be difficult for some of them to change while maintaining their authenticity.
Hope you are recovering okay!
Oh wow did you?! How lovely that your family live down there, a great place to go on little holidays
Yes you’re absolutely right, they are unable to modify the shops as they’ve been that way for so long and they want to keep their authenticity.
A big shame for the disabled though.
