I’m a bit of a novice when it comes to skincare/hair care, I don’t have much of a skincare routine and I usually just buy what smells nice and is on offer when it comes to shampoo/conditioner! When I found out I had lyme disease over a month ago now, my Mum went to a conference in London specialising in healing lyme the natural way. One of the things mentioned was removing your everyday products containing chemicals and switching to natural/organic ones. Now I’m not going to suddenly throw away everything in my cupboards as that would be drastic and very expensive to replace; but I thought I’d start making some small changes by switching up my skin/haircare routine. Green People & Faith In Nature (who both make award-winning organic and natural products) kindly sent me some samples to try and get me started.
Green People Quinoa & Artichoke Shampoo & Conditioner
Green People Quinoa & Artichoke Shampoo & Conditioner promise ‘ultra-soft hair with a sleek shine’ which was definitely fulfilled. My hair hasn’t felt so silky for a long time! Green People say this is down to the quinoa protein that boosts all 8 amino acids, nourishes each hair strand and improves glossiness. The Artichoke also helps improve shine as it has deeply cleansing properties that remove mineral deposits causing dullness, revealing the natural beauty of the hair.
I was worried that using natural hair products would leave my hair limp and greasy but I was so far wrong – my hair feels incredibly clean! I don’t get to shower as much as I’d like because of my illness so having extra fresh hair means that greasy feeling is at bay for that little bit longer! My hair also has slightly more volume which is very hard to achieve as it’s incredibly fine so well done Green People!
At first I wasn’t sure about the smell that I’d describe as slightly herbal but I don’t mind it now! I like that the scent is quite subtle and leaves your bathroom smelling nice and fresh. The shampoo foams really well so it’s nice and easy to use without too much of an arm workout.
Overall, these two products get a big thumbs up for shiny, soft and super clean hair. The shampoo & conditioner are £14.95 each for 200ml so they aren’t budget products but well worth the investment of you’re in need of some hair TLC! And…I have a discount code for you to get 20% off – SUPERFOOD20.
Green People Vita Min Fix 24-Hour Day Cream & Fruitful Night’s Night Cream
I adore both of these products! The Vita Min Fix 24-Hour day cream (£15.99 – 50ml) made with evening primrose and avocado oil, is lovely and light but it also does a great job of nourishing the skin.
The Fruitful Night’s night cream (15.95 – 50ml) is my favourite of the two – it smells INCREDIBLE! The scent is fruity but without being too sweet. My skin feels so soft and rejuvenated when I apply it and it’s the same the next morning! A lovely night cream
I have incredibly dry skin and using these two creams together have helped to reduce dryness. Although Green People claim that the Pineapple extract in the night cream removes dead skin cells, I still feel the need to exfoliate my face regularly due to some remaining flaky skin.
I would highly recommend these two products, I will definitely be purchasing again as a treat despite them being a little more expensive than I’d like!
Faith In Nature Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner
I’d tried the Faith In Nature Coconut Conditioner a while ago when I was given a sample in Whole Foods and wasn’t sure what to make of it. I found it quite thin/watery compared to what I’d been used to. But…when I tried it again recently paired with the Faith in Nature Coconut Shampoo, I really quite liked it. They smell divine – coconut is one of my favourite scents and this pair reminded me of being on holiday sipping piña coladas on the beach! They contain actual organic coconut so no wonder they smell heavenly.
The shampoo & conditioner left my hair feeling lovely and clean. I did need to use some leave in conditioner after my shower to help me comb through the ends of my hair, but maybe I just needed to use a bit more of the conditioner than I would normally.
The products are £5.50 for a 400ml bottle which I think is very affordable if you’re thinking of trying some natural haircare products! Faith In Nature also do lots of other scents of the shampoo & conditioner – I have my eye on the pineapple & lime!
I am now on the look out for other organic natural hair/skin care to try. There’s something really satisfying about using products that aren’t full of aggressive ingredients, chemicals or synthetic fragrances/colourants!
