Spirulina, Avocado & Lime Smoothie Bowl

When I first saw spirulina on Instagram, I wasn’t sure I would be a fan, I thought it wold taste very ‘green’ and earthy and I don’t enjoy those flavours overly. But it’s actually delicious, it’s very subtle and it makes smoothies so creamy! And just look at the colour! What’s more, it packed full of nutrients that nourish both the body and the mind.

Spirulina contains vitamin B6 and iron which support the immune system and the brain, it contains thiamine which contributes to the normal function of the heart, and its rich in protein.

This smoothie is sweet, creamy and zesty, and with the sharpness of the raspberries and passionfruit, it’s a flavour sensation :)

1 banana,
1/2 avocado,
Handful of frozen spinach,
Juice of 1/2 lime,
1 tsp Organic Burst Spirulina Granules,
1 cup almond milk (or other dairy-free milk),
1 tsp manuka honey.
Toppings: A few frozen raspberries broken up, some gluten-free granola (how about Cinnamon Bun & Raisin Granola or Gingerbread Spiced Granola) and 1/2 passion fruit. Or you can use whatever toppings you like.

Add all of the smoothie ingredients to a high powdered blender and blend until smooth. Pour into your favourite bowl and add your toppings. Enjoy!

    Looks delicious!

I don’t really like the taste of spirulina, but maybe I’ll change my mind if I follow this recipe. :)

Thank you lovely! I recommend Organic Burst as it has the nicest taste compared to some of the others.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve been using the Spirulina from Holland & Barrett (big green packet) but can’t use more than a small pinch as it’s so strong!
